O’Brian for an inspired glimpse into the person of Swami Vivekananda and the principles he taught. Swami Vivekananda’s speech and spiritual presence at the first World Parliament of Religions in 1893 is credited with opening the door to interreligious dialog and interest in Vedanta in the West. Still today, his voice and spirit ring out around the world!

He received his monastic ordination in 1995, after years of extensive spiritual practice and scriptural training. In India, Swami Prasannatmananda served in various institutions of the Ramakrishna Order. In 2011, he was posted to the Vedanta Society of Berkeley, California, where he has been continuing his service as an Assistant Swami.

1/17/13 - The Divine Song: How Divine Love Is Expressed Through Devotion and Service
Swami Nirvanananda

Swami Nirvanananda brings the path of bhakti yoga, the way of devotion, and karma yoga, the way of selfless service together. In this conversation with Yogacharya O’Brian, learn how universal love and oneness with Spirit can be the guiding principles for our lives today. This segment will include some original chant music with Swamiji.

Giorgio Kriegsch was born in Italy to devout parents, a Catholic mother and Lutheran father. When he read Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda, his life was transformed, and he began his spiritual journey in earnest. Giorgio took Kriya Yoga initiation from Swami Hariharananda, a disciple of Yogananda’s guru, Sri Yukteswar. Later, Giorgio took monastic vows and became Swami Nirvanananda Saraswati, meaning "the bliss of freedom from suffering." Merging the teachings of Kriya Yoga with the devotional aspect of Bhakti Yoga and the charitable path of Karma Yoga, Swami Nirvanananda expresses unity in the diversity of many paths and religions, all leading to the same goal: Universal Love and Oneness with Spirit. Swami Nirvanananda travels around the world singing and raising money to help very needy children in and around Puri, India.
