Thursday 02/16/2006 Conscious contact with God transforms our life from a life of sorrow to a life of joy. Rev. Ellen Grace O'Brian
Friday 02/17/2006 How easy it is to be fooled by the way of the world, putting our time and attention into that which will not last and will not bring us true happiness. How easy to think that spiritual study and practice is a luxury and not a priority. The yogi is clear about priorities, seeking first that which brings lasting happiness, security and peace. Paramahansa Yogananda counseled us to say to ourselves "this can wait and that can wait, but my search for God cannot wait." Rev. Ellen Grace O'Brian
Saturday 02/18/2006 The steady heart is conscious of the distinction between ultimate reality and the changing conditions of material existence. One with a steady heart remains rooted in the unchanging truth that underlies all conditions and therefore is able to maintain equanimity in the face of change whether pleasant or unpleasant. Rev. Ellen Grace O'Brian
Sunday 02/19/2006 There are differences in the talents and abilities that people possess but at the soul level, there is absolute equality. Everyone deserves the same respect, all are children of the one Father-Mother, all are God's instruments. One with a steady heart looks through all appearances to the truth, and relates to others soul to soul. Rev. Ellen Grace O'Brian
Monday 02/20/2006 When we know the One Reality permeating all of life, and see through the veil of differences to the unity of all, there ensues a divine romance, a relationship with Life itself that is revealed in all creation. This brings such joy to the heart that we are in constant praise and adoration. As this conscious relationship is courted, the field of God reveals itself to the devotee as vibrant with supportive grace. For such a practitioner of yoga, God is everywhere. Rev. Ellen Grace O'Brian
Tuesday 02/21/2006 Awe of God in creation leads to doing everything as worship, everything is for God, in God, and furthers the experience of divine communion. No longer is meditation restricted to discrete periods of time in a seated pose, meditation is the conscious awareness of the omnipresence of God that fills the devotee's heart day and night. Work becomes a song of praise offered in delight. Rev. Ellen Grace O'Brian
Wednesday 02/22/2006 As a flower offered to the Lord may be a rose or a daisy, the devotee's station in life, or particular duty, has no bearing. It is the quality of the heart within the action that matters. Rev. Ellen Grace O'Brian
