We should ask ourselves what we are seeking in our work. Do we work for security, prosperity, or happiness? All these conditions can be found in their essential nature in the soul as being, conscious awareness, and bliss. When we have found them within, we are free to work without attachment.

We can choose the world with the material or emotional supports it promises or we can choose Divine Consciousness, the invisible infinite support. Many reach for what appears to be the sure thing of the world only to discover it is ultimately unreliable.

Reliance on God is accomplished by continually turning the mind and heart toward divine remembrance and in so doing, letting go of dependence on worldly supports. We cannot depend on both.

The use of a mantra, or prayer word, allows us to channel our energy toward our divine nature. When negative mind states arise such as anxiety, anger, or fear we can use the energy of these emotions in a positive way through introducing the mantra into the mental field. The “fire” or energy of the emotion then becomes a transforming fire instead of a destructive fire.
