In the beginning of sadhana, spiritual practice is random and intermittent. With dedication and perseverance, practice becomes steady; an integral part of each day. Through self-discipline and God's grace, one's life begins to turn to God completely. Like a pilgrim circling the Kaaba, Self-realization is the center of all one thinks, says, and does.

Release the false sense of self as the owner of things or the doer of actions. Realize that life is a play of consciousness in which the sense of separate self is an illusion. We exist as expressions of the one infinite field of divine consciousness.

Faith is necessary. One must believe in the promise of freedom because the spiritual way of life requires us to swim against the current of conformity—the message of the world that says that material possessions, fame, and relationships will bring us happiness and security. We must be interested in seeking another way to break free from this illusion.
