When one awakens to wisdom there is no longer fluctuation in the mind--the discriminating activity of intellect is put to rest and only the pure stability of wisdom remains. One is free from the restlessness of "should I or shouldn't I?" Pure action arises spontaneously from clear seeing.

Identifying with thoughts and experiences is the habit of ego which then creates attractions and aversions to maintain its identity. Notice the tendency to superimpose "I, me, mine" on life and take a step toward freedom.

Happiness and sorrow are both reflections of internal states. Nothing outside of us can cause these. If things, people, or situations could cause happiness or sorrow, then everyone would perceive it the same way, but what brings happiness to one person may bring sorrow to another.
