Nonattachment to the results of our work starts before the work is begun with a pure intention, one that is free from the desire for personal gain. Engage in activity because it is the right thing to do, all the while remaining free of the fixation on a desired outcome.

Our destiny, or fate, need not determine our spiritual progress. It can serve as a steppingstone toward the goal of God-realization. Accept whatever comes today as an opportunity to awaken more fully to truth and life's inherent goodness.

To be a friend to our self we must think those thoughts and perform those actions that contribute to our well-being and are consistent with Self-respect. Cultivate reverence for the indwelling divinity.

Watch where the mind runs and bring it back. Repeatedly returning the mind to rest in the awareness of the presence of God, or the One Reality, saves us from the myriad distractions that can rob our energy and squander our time. Those intent on spiritual awakening remain focused on the goal.
