Look for the times when a moment of prayer, or mindfulness, could bring more spiritual awareness to your day -- on entering and leaving your home, on beginning work, on answering the telephone, or at meal times. Commit to pause for a moment of prayer or contemplation at those times. It only takes a moment.

Awakening to discipleship on the spiritual path coincides with the initial awakening to the Guru, the realization of God within us. The role of the external teacher or guru is to introduce us to this reality -- to lead us home to the True Guru, our divine nature.

The valid knowledge of direct perception that exists in the mind of the enlightened teacher is imparted to the receptive listener. Because it is valid knowledge, it will resonate with the student's own intuitive wisdom. The discerning spiritual seeker can perceive, when listening to spiritual teachings, that which is spoken with the authority of revealed knowledge.
