Love is the bond between teacher and student that allows truth to be transmitted between them. When this bond is broken, the transmission cannot occur.

Though the physical teacher may fail or disappoint you, God is always the True Teacher. That Divine Presence will continue to make Itself known as the heart is left open. Even the breaking of the heart in the student-teacher relationship can serve this purpose.

Good works abide in nature; only surrender takes us beyond. No one, not even the saints, reach enlightenment through action. But action is necessary. Do not imagine yourself to be the doer of the action--that is the key.

Good works are useful to a point, then they may be detrimental to one's awakening. If there is attachment to one's work--the desire to gain praise, favor with God, or an enlightened state through what we do--it becomes a detriment.
