The human need for shelter or protection is basic. When the ego provides shelter it is like a corrupt landowner who misuses the labor of his tenant farmers for his own greed and leaves them with nothing. When we turn to God for shelter all is given through love.

When awareness rests in the heart of divine remembrance, the path of action in the world is lit by grace. The darkness of the errors of self-interest is removed.

It is futile to fight our divine nature. Once we become aware of the battle between the drive of the ego for self-preservation and the uprising of the soul nature toward truth, surrender is the only real option.
