Second hand or intellectual knowledge does not dispel ignorance or the pain and suffering it brings into our life. Ignorance flees from the direct perception of truth--this is spiritual knowledge. When one has direct perception of truth and begins to live it--this is wisdom. With spiritual wisdom lasting happiness is possible.

There is no doubt that the spiritual path is arduous. It is like swimming upstream against a strong current. Many times we are dashed against the rocks of doubt and self-will. Yet those who persevere find serene pools of peace, restful to the soul. Ultimately the vast reservoir of truth is found.
