Sunday 08/05/2001 The teacher is a boat that carries the student across the turbulent river of spiritual immaturity and mistaken beliefs. Attachment to the teacher is natural in the beginning. Once we reach the shore of divine realization, we relinquish that attachment so that inner wisdom may guide us. Rev. Ellen Grace O'Brian

Wednesday 08/08/2001 When we examine our motives we can usually find some degree of self-serving in everything we do. This is why love and grace are so important. Thursday 08/09/2001 Wake up from the mortal dream and live as an as an enlightened being. Don't put it off by imagining it is not possible for you. Enlightenment is our natural condition. Friday 08/10/2001 The crux of spiritual practice takes place in the moment-to-moment choices we make in every day. Sitting on our meditation cushion, studying scripture, charitable giving, and offering service are preparation for spiritual living. Rev. Ellen Grace O'Brian
Saturday 08/11/2001 Spiritual practice requires continual course correction. Observing our thoughts and choices reveals the trend of our life. Are we aligning ourselves with peace or chasing after desires? Living a life of zeal, or succumbing to laziness or depression?
