Friday 08/03/2001 Spirit is unconditional essence, the ultimate ground of being. To know this ground requires the unconditional part of us. Beyond the conditions of mind, beyond what we think and believe, is the divine Self. Seek it out. Rev. Ellen Grace O'Brian
Saturday 08/04/2001 Relationship with the spiritual teacher allows the love of God to be realized by the student. Love is required for the purpose of the relationship to be fulfilled. First it builds a bridge of faith between teacher and student. Then the student walks across it to the direct experience of God. Rev. Ellen Grace O'Brian
Sunday 08/05/2001 The teacher is a boat that carries the student across the turbulent river of spiritual immaturity and mistaken beliefs. Attachment to the teacher is natural in the beginning. Once we reach the shore of divine realization, we relinquish that attachment so that inner wisdom may guide us. Rev. Ellen Grace O'Brian
Monday 08/06/2001 Service is a vehicle for awakening only if approached selflessly. Watch for signs of seeking appreciation or acknowledgement. The joy of doing work for God is its own reward. Rev. Ellen Grace O'Brian
Tuesday 08/07/2001 Entering heaven is the experience of oneness. The ego's sense of "I, me, and mine" is a barrier. We are free to enjoy this beautiful world as part of heaven if we remember it belongs to God. Rev. Ellen Grace O'Brian
Wednesday 08/08/2001 When we examine our motives we can usually find some degree of self-serving in everything we do. This is why love and grace are so important. When we do what we can to remove self-interest and offer service out of love for God, then grace, the divine intention that seeks our awakening, clears the way. Rev. Ellen Grace O'Brian
