When a desire is satisfied, a temporary calm appears in the mind, and we feel happy. We then credit the experience of happiness to the satisfaction of the desire rather than to the calmness in the mind which has revealed our innate happiness. Once we realize our happiness is inherent, we don’t have to keep chasing desires to find it again.
