In order to be free from compulsion, we must learn to be vigilant in our own consciousness. We cannot control the thoughts that enter the stream of the mind. However, we do have a choice about what we will dwell on, what we will believe, and what we will allow to remain.

Those desires that we entertain through the senses and the mind, take root in our consciousness and grow. They will "flower" over time, and be acted upon, covering over our wisdom as a weed quickly overtakes a garden that is not carefully tended by the gardener.

Honoring inspiration, or soul direction, is an important part of being surrendered to the divine will. When we honor our inner guidance, it is as if the Divine One has extended a hand to us and we extend our own hand in return as our loving attention, our time, our energy, our resources, our talents, and our understanding.
