Special Services

CSE has special services four times a year, close to the earth's cycles—fall and spring equinoxes, and summer and winter solstices. These services have universal spiritual appeal for all faiths.

In June, we celebrate Gratitude for Teachers, an annual interfaith service where we honor the saints and sages of all traditions and our spiritual teachers—the compassionate ones who have revealed the path of spiritual awakening. While every person is an expression of divine love, our true identity is often obscured by confusion and ignorance caused by ego involvement. When we are ready to discover our true identity, the spiritual teacher appears in our life to introduce us to our divine nature and to assist us with living according to this truth. The outer teacher is the one who helps us discover the Supreme Teacher, God dwelling within our own heart.

In September, we Honor our Ancestors—all those who have tread this path before us. Spiritual practice for most of us is carried out in the life of our family. The practice of honoring our ancestors assists us in finding our place in the web of life, connected in the sacred present to both the past and the future. Ancient spiritual teachings indicate that our spiritual progress affects nine generations—both before and after our lifetime. We can become conscious of that which we choose to carry forward from our heritage and also of that which will end its family or cultural history with us.  Click here for the Honoring Ancestors handout.

In December, CSE offers a Winter Solstice Mass.
This interfaith worship service honors the Light of Divine Love that comes into the world and reveals the way of peace. We look to the universal significance of the Holy Days and what this time of prayer and spiritual renewal can teach us for our personal lives and the life of the world.

In the spring, we rejoice with our Soul Liberation Worship Service. This special service held on Easter Sunday, is a celebration of the soul's journey of awakening—the opportunity each of us has to awaken from the illusional sense of being separate from the Source of all good to the freedom and joy of spiritual awakening.
